The Story of the man behind the iconic Falcon Studios

seedmoney_header_shorts-tif

Chuck Holmes , the adult film producer who founded the iconic Falcon Studios back in 1971, is often referred too as the gay Hugh Heffner.  As one of the most successful pioneers of gay pornography, Holmes was single-handedly responsible for re-defining the identity of gay men in the early 1980’s when there was a severe lack of positive images or role models especially for guys coming out of the closet.  Falcon’s men were clean-cut, preppy and boy-next-door types and they quickly helped establish the Studio as the undisputed market leader.

Not just content with Falcon being his legacy, Holmes used the vast fortune it provided him  to devote the latter part of his life to philanthropy funding HIV/AIDS outreach programs, as well as Global Green, Sierra Club, The Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund and the Human Rights Campaign. The Charles M. Holmes building at the San Francisco LGBT Community Center is named in his honor, He was also active in supporting political campaigns both locally in San Francisco, and at the national level.  He died from AIDS related liver failure in 2000 just 45 years old.

Now there is a feature length documentary on Holmes from filmmaker Michael Stabile called Seed Money: The Chuck Norris Story which TLA are releasing on VOD on 10th October 2016 …. meanwhile , here is the trailer.
