Photographer SAM SHAHID has been taking images for the last 50 years of the gay community as seen through his eyes and has now curated them into a stunning new book that is such a glorious celebration of his life in New York and Provincetown. You’ll quickly notice that he has probably been to more Gay Prides than most of us have had hot dinners.
The book is funny and sexy and wonderfully entertaining but like any project that documents the history of the LGBT community, it is in part touched by the sadness of the brutal effects of the AIDS pandemic.
