Barbie & Ken ….and his boyfriend …..living it up in style.

SONY DSC

queerguru first came across photographer David Parise’s work one Sunday afternoon at Miami Beach’s Lincoln Road Collectables Market a couple of years ago, and instantly fell in love with his whole series of vintage Barbie & Ken pictures.  In fact ‘Boys at Sunset’ above is the first one we purchased that day.

Parise had been living in Miami when one day he found a photo book about Barbie’s 50th anniversary and this inspired him to start a project with vintage Barbie dolls in front of various landmarks. It became such a success and as well as selling them in SoBe, he toured Galleries in the US, and also found a very eager audience for them in New York where he now lives.

As well as the 60’s inspired shots of Barbie and her friends enjoying the glorious art-deco setting of Miami, Parise has expanded his portfolio and has Barbie and Ken traveling all over the world.

You can purchase this very reasonably priced signed prints http://www.barbieandkenphotos.com/and in Miami at http://haroldgolengallery.com/ or direct from Parise every Saturday and Sunday 11-6 at 124 Prince St. in N.Y’s SoHo….Weather Permitting
