Canada’s dark past persecuting the LGBT community

In the  1950’s and 1960’s the Royal Canadian Mounted Police created a vicious campaign to root out all gay men and women from their ranks and also  from the military and cvil service.  Faced with the reality of a lack of resources to conduct blanket surveillance on all suspects, they invented that device that was supposed to be able to identify gay men , known derogatively as ‘fruits’

The Fruit Machine  is a new documentary that is about too be released which tells the story of this dark period when the Authorities conducted one of the worst witch hunts in Canada’s history that ruined men and women’s lives just for being gay.  It follows the very recent official apology from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for the persecution of gays and lesbians, simultaneously announcing financial reparations for those whose lives had been ruined, to the tune of more than $100 million.
