Disengaged

aa

When SCOTUS made their landmark ruling that finally made same-sex marriage legal in the U.S. the whole tenor of the reasoning behind the struggle did a seismic shift in many gay households from ‘can we marry?’ to ‘do we have to marry?’ Many people reasoned that now we had won the battle, then the very least we could do was rush off to City Hall to get a Marriage Licence. It is exactly what our ‘married friends’ especially our hetero-normative ones, expected of us.

And this is precisely what happened to Syd and Jules a L.A. lesbian couple in this brand new rom-drama web series Disengaged. They just happened to be hosting a dinner party on that fateful day in June last year when everyone was celebrating the Scotus ruling and they just allowed their friends to shame them into getting engaged there and then. Syd and Jules had been partnered for 7 years already so it wasn’t as though they were rushing into make a commitment to each other, but as they discover in this delightfully fresh and funny new series, being engaged takes everything to a whole different plane.

Disengaged was created and written by its two stars Hannah Pearl Utt and Jen Tullock and all 5 episodes of Series 1 can be viewed (for free) on Super Deluxe TV’s You Tube Channel.
