In 1988 Margaret Thatcher introduced a hate-filled anti-LGBTQ Law called CLAUSE 28 which was to effectively ban the promotion of homosexuality. Even now some 30 years later it’s left a bitter memory within the LGBTQ Community for its sheer pernisciousness. Brit filmmaker Joseph Wilson‘ talks to QUEERGURU about his short dystopian film that follows a group of unapologetically queer warriors forced to flee the UK at that time.
The latest Edition of the annual Provincetown Film Society & Festival has Re-Imagined itself in the midst of the Covid 19 Lockdown. Asides from two nights of screenings at Welfleet Drive-In Theater most of the program with screen VIRTUALLY ONLINE.
Founded in 1988, NewFest is New York’s largest presenter of LGBTQ+ film & media and its 32nd edition will take place October 16-27, 2020, with the majority of the 120+ new films accessible online to ticket holders NATIONWIDE in the US. An important fact to note as most other Film Festivals we have covered have one been available in their home states.
There are also Special events include a Queer Trivia Night hosted by Rupaul’s Drag Race alum Jackie Cox; a Virtual Dance Party in partnership with House of Yes to close out My Girl Friday, a selection of films by and about women, women-identifying, and non-binary members of the queer community; as well as the previously announced all trans live reading of BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN to celebrate the film’s 15th anniversary. All Panels will stream for free on NewFest’s YouTube and Facebook channels.

This year their 11 day festival features 160+ films and is their most inclusive and diverse festival in history – with over 70% of films directed by women, trans, and people-of-color.
