Summer of Love & Marriage : BridePride 2017

Posted on Categories queerguru.tvLabels , , ,

The center point of what we are calling P.Town’s Summer of Love and Marriage is this year’s BridePride the world’s largest all-girl wedding. After the phenomenal success of the inaugural event last year, the indefatigable organizers Alli Baldwin and Ilene Mitnick of Roux Guest House are determined to make it bigger, better and twice as much fun. They have moved the ceremony to P Town’s iconic Pilgrim Monument with its stunning views of the whole city, and this is where they sat down with queerguru to talk about their exciting plans for the July event. Well some of them, as the two of them are determined to keep some surprises for all the brides-to-be and all the couples renewing their vows. They would not even deny or confirm if the Minister for the Day the Rev Kate Clinton would in fact be abseiling down the side of the tower as rumored, but either way, we all know that she will make her own grand entrance as usual.

One snippet they did reveal that is  any local gals ……i.e. those with an 02657 zip code …..will be welcome to join the Vow Renewal Ceremony FREE.

P.S. If you are still thinking of popping the question to the person who makes you heart flutter, you may want to check out our very recent interview with Evan Wolfson the Founder and Director of Freedom To Marry. If it wasn’t for Evan + his colleagues,  LGBT marriages would simply not exist.

TAB HUNTER: Hollywood heartthrob, movie star and a real gentleman

Posted on Categories queerguru.tvLabels , , ,

When we first met the iconic movie star and former Hollywood heartthrob Tab Hunter to film an interview, he walked up and introduced himself.  So totally unnecessary as even in his 80’s he still had his same handsome look, but Tab was very much a total gentleman and a charming one at that.

He has just passed away aged 86. and so Queerguru wanted to re-issue the delightful interview we filmed with him at Provincetown Film Society & Festival two years ago when he was promoting Tab Hunter Confidential.

It was a sheer joy and privilege to meet him and his husband Allan Glaser to whom our thoughts and sympathy go out today for his loss.

R.I.P.  TAB HUNTER : July 11, 1931  - July 8, 2018 (aged 86)

That Was The Summer That Was : Provincetown 2017

The queerguru cameras were seemingly everywhere in Provincetown this summer : here is a potpourri of some of the interviews we snagged with some of our favorite stars, and at some of the fabulous events that we covered in this magical wee town at the tip of Cape Cod this past summer.

The Art of James Frederick

Posted on Categories queerguru.tvLabels , ,

Provincetown has long been home to a colony of very successful artists but not all of them now are from the ‘old school’. James Frederick is part of new breed of creatives in town whose work crosses boundaries with his abstract landscapes on one hand and his hit series of gay mini-comic books on the other one. Last time we interviewed him via Facebook we were inundated with fan mail …… and some of it was even about his art. So we visited him in his studio to see what he’s working on now.

The Captain’s Daughters serve up way more than just Tea

Last summer Ptown welcomed two new nautical women to our shores. The Captain’s Daughters Tea Room is a delightful spot not just for tea aficionados but their Boutique facing the Ocean hosts eclectic art exhibits and has a tempting array of carefully curated must-have accoutrements.

Queerguru spent time with Meghan OConnor & Dani Niedzielski to find out why the came ashore here, and also to throw some delicious shade.

The interview with Roger Walker-Dack was filmed by Dan Desjardins
