If you are just a wee bit tired of gay men being just too happy for words then you will totally love this hilarious tongue-in-cheek new webseries called Awful Gays. Produced & Directed by Mark Keane, it is set in Dublin and it’s a comedy/satire about an awful gay couple who probably shouldn’t be together. Maurice and Kenny are not politically engaged, they’re incredibly self-absorbed, and they lack basic empathy.
The story line is about lovingly poking fun at some aspects – perhaps the worst aspects – of gay culture and identity. Keane claims it is not based on his own life (well, not completely) but that he enjoys taking real life situations and being brutally honest about them, and amplifying them for comedy in order to make a point.
