Queer producers Jim Parsons and Greg Berlanti  have announced that they are going to make a new TV series called EQUAL that will profile some of the most important leaders and activists in the fight for LGBTQ rights.

The four-part mini series for HBO will feature Harry Hay the founder of the Mattachine Society the first ever gay organisation; Christine Jorgensen an American transgender woman who was the first person to become widely known in the United States for having sex reassignment surgery; Bayard Rustin the gay rights leader and Black rights leader who was an adviser to Martin Luther King Jr  and to whom President Obama posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom; The Daughters of Bilitis the first lesbian civil and political rights organization in the United States that was  started  in San Francisco in 1955.

One of the episodes will cover the Stonewall Riots from start to finish as well as the first Pride event, held the year after Stonewall.

HBO see the series, which will feature high-end re-enactments and never-before-seen footage and will capture the emotions of the times with messages just as relevant as today and they see it as a natural continuation in the growing interest in the whole history of your Community .

There is no known release date yet ,  BUT watch this space as this is one we will not want to miss.
