Turn Back TIme : the late great Charles Nelson Reilly celebrating his Broadway career

The day after the 2019 Tony Award Nominations are announced and we are celebrating all the LGBT nominees, we look back at one of the great queer Broadway legends who picked up his Tony Award in 1962 for his performance in the original production of How To Succeed in Business.

The late CHARLES NELSON REILLY is remembered by most people for his very campy appearances on TV’s Match Game and a whole range of hit TV shows in the 1960’s and 1970’s.  However he originally made his name  as a Broadway Star in shows such as Bye Bye Birdie, Hello Dolly and Skyscraper.

In the Tony Award Ceremony of 1974. Reilly performed an hilarious skit in his whole Broadway career and brought the house down.  His infectious humor shines though as he sends himself up with some of the ridiculous songs he got to send.  This wee gem of a video is a reminder not only of his sheer genius but the fact he may not have ‘come out’ officially, he never ever bothered to hide his sexuality.

P.S. After this you MUST watch THE LIFE OF REILLY a documentary of an hilarious stage performance of CNR telling his wonderful story that in which he tells about his very remarkable like : its available on Amazon Prime and Itunes.
