When We Rise really soars

Oscar-winner Dustin Lance Black’s docudrama series When We Rise based on the activist Cleve Jones memoir of the same name that premiered in ABC TV in the US yesterday, is one of the most important LGBTQ  TV programs for years. This powerful recount of our community’s history that starts from 1969 and the Stonewall riots chronicles the personal and political struggles, set-backs, and triumphs of a diverse group of LGBT individuals who helped pioneer an offshoot of the Civil Rights Movement from its infancy in the 20th century to the successes of today.

The first two episodes are directed by Oscar nominated Gus Van Sant with A-List cast, and this series is must-see TV at it’s very very best.
