Wonderkid wants to win off the pitch too.

Professional sports is the one of the last remaining bastions where homophobia still seems to flourish unabated. For every brave courageous LGBT athlete that dares to publicly come out of the closet, there are several thousands more kept in by sheer fear of what will happen to their careers, their lives and their loved ones.   queerguru always applauds any and every effort that will allow all sportsmen to be themselves and and on in the field, in and out of the stadium, and feel respected, appreciated and loved.

Wonderkid  is an excellent  short British film by Rhys Chapman, which tackles homophobia and depicts the inner turmoil of a gay professional footballer who is good enough to play for the English national team. Starring Chris Mason, the  film  launched at the 2016 Raindance Film Festival, and has been broadcast on Sky Sports 1 HD one of the major sports TV channels in the UK.  It is now available to view free online here.  http://www.wonderkidfilm.co.uk/watch
