A 92 year old WW2 veteran/transgender widow denied her rights

Sometimes when we are  arguing and fighting for the rights of our LGBTQ community, it’s good to sit back and think about some of the actual people that are affected so badly by all this discrimination.

Robina Asti was a WWII veteran and pilot and a very high-powered businessman until 1976 when she transitioned.  She fell in love and got married in 2004 when she was mere 82 years old.   When her husband died a few years later , even though they had paid taxes all their lives, she was denied the right to be treated like any other widow by Social Security Agency bosses.

Lambda Legal took up her cause, but it is so wrong that at 92 years old Robina should have to fight for her basic rights.
