Drag Queen Jinkx Monsoon headlines a group of LGBT celebrities and activists in a video that has been made to help raise funds and awareness for the LGBT community in Chechnya whose very lives are in danger under the current regime.
LGBT people have been detained in concentration camps and tortured in horrific ways with many killed in extrajudicial killings, and the aim of this appeal is to help them evacuate and raise awareness of the situation. The video is also urging the US government to finally join together with the 32 countries who have publicly condemned the atrocities perpetrated in Chechnya and call for an investigation.
Now our global LGBTI community is asking you to help too. In this video, they are asking you to join by sending messages of hope and donating to this crisis appeal. E.G. the estimated cost to safely evacuate one person from Chechnya is about US$5,108 (€4,500) so every single donated dollar helps. The campaign will officially end on 10 April.
