If you are a queerguru regular, then you will know that one of the highlights of our summers up in Provincetown is our annual visits with Miss Varla Jean Merman who is the nearest thing to Royalty the town has.
She even welcomed us back after one year we were chatting and cruising around in her vintage Mustang and we ended up in a car pile-up in Commercial Street with sirens blaring and drag queens screaming.
In the winters Varla decamps back to her hometown of New Orleans and suddenly that southern drawl of hers gets as thick as the local jambalaya This time she made a small video on the virtues of the town’s rugby club (who are all gay naturally). Generous to a fault (!) Varla even allowed her alter-ego Jeffery Roberson share the screen, and the sight of his handsome hulky figure may come as something of a surprise to those of you who have never see Varla ‘off-duty’ before.
It’s a wonderfully funny and charming video where Jeff + Varla have such a good time get down and dirty (ish) with the local sportsmen, that we think that if Miss Merman made more wee films like this then New Orleans would be even more packed than usual.
