Queerguru always likes to check in with  German artist STEFAN MERKT from time to time as he is always working on a new Exhibition.  He has just opened ” ON THE WAY ′′  and all the work is inspired by Tom of Finland. and marks  the centennial of the birth of this artist, born Touko Valio Laaksonen, who died in 1991

Merkt is no ordinary artist he creates works of art by using just postage stamps.  He has been doing this since 1989 and he calls them ‘stampages”.

Each piece is made up of hundreds of stamps and painted over like a mosaic.   As well as doing abstract pieces,. Merkt likes to do new interpretations of pop art, expressionist art  as well as iconic queer images.

‘ON THE WAY’ is at Romeo and Romeo, Motzstr. 20, Berlin-Schöneberg.  until mid Oct. 2020.  BUT if you cannot make it in personal all work can be bought online https://stampagen.de/
