2020 will therefore be the very first year since 1956 not to have a Eurovision Contest. For those of you who for some reason have never ever watched the World’s Campiest Annual TV Show you should know it has 184 million viewers i.e. that’s double the Super Bowl audience. Admitting that you are not one of them may result in you having your Gay Card revoked.
One big fan is East London artist Richard DeDomenici who was determined that a simple thing like a Pandemic should not deprive us of the Contest and all those cheesy songs so when the official one was cancelled, he created a new one.
The Coronavision Song Contest is the result. He quickly set up a webpage and Facebook group, and shared details of both on social media, along with some simple guidelines, including the stipulation that songs must be new, original, and not published elsewhere. He was thrilled to discover entries quickly started to flow in.
The Final is set for Saturday May 16th which was the date that Eurovision would have been beamed around the world, and here is a sneak preview are 30 glorious finalists .
