So far this Holiday Season we have written about THE SLUTCRACKER where ballet meets burlesque which is an annual tradition at Somerville Theatre in Massachusetts which has naturally gone online this year,
Then we wrote about NUTCRACKER ROUGE which is Company XIV’s very adult take on Tchaikovsky’s classic Ballet directed by Drama Desk Award nominee AUSTIN MCCORMICK.
Now we have come across the Hip Hop Nutcracker which is a combination of Tchaikovsky’s Score, Hip Hop Dance and NYC Style. A unique and joyful event, this evening-length production is performed by a supercharged cast of a dozen all-star dancers, a DJ, a violinist, and MC Kurtis Blow, one of hip hop’s founding fathers, who opens the show with a short set.
