Vogueing With Beethoven

To celebrate Beethoven’s 250th Birthday music video and commercials director Emilie Norenberg was approached by one of Scandinavia’s most prestigious music ensembles, the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, to create a visual piece that introduces Beethoven’s music to a new generation of listeners.

Shot on 16mm film on the suburban streets of Oslo, high culture meets subculture in a film profiling a young man’s journey to embracing his identity.

Norenberg said “I’ve always looked up to the ballroom community because no one teaches self-love and inclusiveness the way they do,  In a way, their message is similar to that of Beethoven’s. He is often described as a suffering outsider, but a humanitarian who believed in equality and individual freedom.”

“Taking inspiration from his life, and drawing parallels to the current social climate, I ultimately wanted to create something that celebrated uniqueness,” says the director who also worked with cinematographer Andreas Johannessen on the project. “We wanted to create something that felt emotive and authentic.”

Watch the stunning short  film  below and you’ll see they achieved that and so much more .
