Jane Has Always Been One Lucky Bitch

6

Seeing Nyle DiMarco don his skimpy loincloth and do his very best Tarzan impression doing the samba on Dancing With The Stars this week jolted our memory  that the new Tarzan movie starring Alexander Skarsgard is about to hit the big screens.  It also prompted queerguru to look back at all the other hot actors who have taken on the role to date, and remind us what a lucky bitch that Jane has always been!

In most people’s eyes Johnny Weissmuller was/is the definitive Tarzan. The 5-time Olympic Gold Medalist Swimmer in the 1920’s and 1930’s became the sixth actor to portray Edgar Rice Burroughs’s ape man, a role he played in twelve movies

Another ex Olympic swimmer Buster Crabbe (far left) starred in the 1933 Tarzan serial, Tarzan the Fearless;  Ron Ely (center) is best known for having playing the lead in the 1966 NBC series Tarzan for which he insisted on doing his own stunts resulting in some two dozen major injuries ;  Mike Henry (far right) was a linebacker for the Los Angeles Rams in the 1960’s when Warner Brothers spotted him and offered him the role of Tarzan in three movies.

Technically these three were never seen on the big screen as Tarzan.  Top left is ex model Kellan Lutz who played the lead in the 2013 animated Tarzan movie; beneath him is Swedish actor Anton Zetterholm who starred in Tarzan the Musical; and to the right is Brendan Fraser who starred in George of The Jungle, but we just couldn’t resist the picture.

Actor Casper Van Dien with his immaculate chiseled good looks has often been described as the perfect model for Barbie’s mate Ken, starred in Tarzan and the Lost City in 1998: on the right is French actor Christopher Lambert who starred in  Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes in 1984.

Finally, the Swedish star of HBO series ‘True Blood’ Alexander Skarsgård stars in The Legend of Tarzan  due to hit our screens in the US on July 1st 2016. Directed by Brit David Yates  who was responsible for three of the Harry Potter movies, Warner Bros are promising this new take on Tarzan will be quite wild.  We cannot wait!
